East to Grimsby and the National Fishing Museum for drama on the Icelandic
Seas. During December and January the grey seal pups can be seen at Donna
Nook. Inland is the lovely market town of Louth, with the tallest parish spire
in England and where the tragic events of the Pilgrimage of Grace were kindled
in 1536. Aircraft enthusiasts will enjoy a trip to Conningsby and East Kirkby
Heritage Centre devoted to the Lancaster squadrons. Close by is the vast medieval
tower of Tattershall Castle, a National Trust property worth a visit.

West over the Lincoln Edge and down to The Old Hall at Gainsborough where
Sir Thomas Burgh entertained Richard III in 1484. Then to the Rectory at Epworth,
birthplace in 1703 of the preacher John Wesley and in 1707 of Charles who
together founded the

South to Lincoln Cathedral, a beautiful12th Century colossus. The approach
up Steep Hill is a medieval experience. At the top, the Castle houses the
Magna Carta and the original Prison Chapel. Walk round the Cathedral to see
the Chapter House and Lord Tennyson's statue, then down the hill to the Usher
Gallery, which contains a Tennyson Room of mementoes.
Humber Bridge, opened 1981, then the longest suspension span in the world.
On to Kingston Upon Hull and The Deep, a new £45m. Sea Life Centre. Take a
stagecoach ride back in time at the Hull Transport Museum. The Archaeological
Museum next door has some of the most beautiful Roman mosaics in Britain.
Queen's Gardens are ideal for a picnic, then visit Wilberforce House for a
glimpse of the Slave Trade.
